Mari-anne erklärt sich bereit, Informationen in Powells Büro sicherzustellen, doch sie werden überrascht. Tony wird wieder eingestellt, während Paul verdächtigt wird, etwas mit den Terroristen zu tun zu haben. 17:00 Uhr – 18:00 Uhr (Buc Amazon.de Es geht wieder los, mit einem weiteren aufregenden Tag im Leben von 24-Superagent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland). Die vierte Staffel der Echtzeit-Actionserie beginnt mit einem tödlichen Terroristen-Anschlag, der in der Entführung von Bauers neuem Boss resultiert, dem US-Verteidigungsminister James Heller (William Devane). Auch wenn er eigentlich ein gefeuerter Ex-Angestellter der Terror-Bekämpfungseinheit CTU ist, lässt sich Jack auch diesmal nicht davon abhalten, in den höchsten Gang zu schalten und die Terroristen eigenhändig der Gerechtigkeit zuzuführen. Dabei dauert es allerdings nicht lange, bis der Superagent herausfindet, dass die Entführung seines Bosses nur Teil eines wesentlich größeren Planes ist, ausgeheckt von Habib Marvan (Arnold Voslo), Anführer einer arabischen Terroristen-Zelle, dem die US-Regierung schon seit Jahren auf den Fersen ist. Von vielen als die bisher beste Staffel der Serie angesehen, ist 24 – Season 4 eine deutliche Abkehr von den drei vorausgegangenen Staffeln. Und das nicht nur, weil die Besetzung fast komplett ausgetauscht wurde. Vor allem erscheint das Tempo der einzelnen Episoden nicht mehr so gehetzt. Anstatt sich in der Spannungsführung auf wendungsreiche Cliffhanger zu verlassen (was sich in gewisser Weise negativ auf die Qualität der dritten Season auswirkte), setzt man den Fokus nun auf komplexe, verschachtelte und übergreifende Handlungsbögen, allerdings auch mit einer hohen Dosis an Gewalt. Was an oberflächlichen Action-Klischees fehlt, wird durch eine reichere und fesselndere Handlung mehr als wettgemacht. Das soll aber ganz sicher nicht bedeuten, dass 24 irgendwie langsam geworden wäre: Die Serie ist immer noch schneller, aufregender und spannungsgeladener als alles andere, was das Fernsehen zu bieten hat. Aber verglichen mit den Vorgängerstaffeln ist 24 – Season 4 ein ganzes Stück gerissener geworden – und damit noch besser. |

Eighteen months have elapsed since the conclusion of Day 3. A commuter train bound for Los Angeles explodes. A man steals a suitcase from a passenger in the wreckage and then kills him. Jack has been dismissed from CTU and now works for Secretary of Defense James Heller. Jack is involved with Heller's daughter, Audrey, and their relationship is growing serious. Jack is in LA for a meeting with CTU Director Erin Driscoll, who fired him a year ago, but he finds himself alienated at CTU by Driscoll and the new staff when reports of a possible terrorist strike come in. A young computer hacker named Andrew Paige sees something that he shouldn't on the Internet. Suddenly, he finds himself running for his life as he is pursued by terrorists. Luckily, he is able to warn Chloe O'Brian before its too late. The Turkish Araz family are not what they seem and it becomes clear that they are heavily involved with the day's events. Meanwhile, Heller has a confrontation with his estranged son. Jack finds that Chloe is his only ally as he tries to prove that the train explosion is merely a diversionary target.

Heller tries to comfort his daughter as his captors broadcast their intentions on the Internet.

Heller and Audrey attempt to escape from Omar, while Driscoll uses her influence to deal with a personal crisis.

Navi's boss orders him to kill his wife and son before the day is over.
